Vera "Jean" Hanlon, 95, of Fairmount, died Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Colonial Oaks Health Care. Jean was born in Hendricks County, Indian on October 19, 1925, the fifth of nine children born to the late James Otha and Lola (Arnold) Miller. She graduated from Filmore High School in 1943. She married Clifford Hanlon on June 8, 1944. Clifford preceded her in death. Jean worked as a selector/packer at Foster Forbes for 11 years and retired from Bradner village where she was an aid in 1981. She was a member of Hillside Wesleyan Church. Jean was a homemaker at heart. She loved reading, traveling and attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events. Jean did the crossword puzzle in the daily news paper for many years and also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. She greatly enjoyed the 12 years she was able to live in Avon Park, Florida. Even while living in Florida she was an avid Indiana Pacer fan. Jean is survived by three sons, Steve Hanlon, Gas City, Doug (Linda) Hanlon, Fairmount, and Michael (Emma Jean) Hanlon, Atlantis, Florida; sister, Wanda (James) Mason, Filmore; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Patricia Gilkison; daughters-in-law, Janet Hanlon and Kathy Hanlon; four brothers and three sisters. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Private family services will be held at later date.
