William Trout

William Darrell Trout, a beloved husband, dedicated father, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the age of 92, at Wesleyan Health Care Center in Marion. Born on May 1, 1933, to the late C. Everett and Mildred Trout, Darrell lived a life marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a deep love for community and the sports he adored.

A proud graduate of Van Buren High School, class of 1951, Darrell went on to attend Taylor University, where he began laying the groundwork for a life filled with hard work and commitment. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, embodying the spirit of duty and honor that shaped so much of his life. After his military service, he found his calling as a truck driver, dedicating many years to the industry and retiring from Central Transport in 1995.

Darrell's true passion extended beyond his work; he was an active member of Center Chapel Church for 39 years, where he fostered friendships and shared his faith. Throughout his life, he was involved with the Masonic Lodge, American Legion Post 368, and was a former member of the Lions Club, all while encouraging the spirit of service and camaraderie among his peers.

On July 12, 1986, he married the love of his life, Beulah Trout, who survives him. Their partnership was a testament to love and support that resonated through the years. Darrell's love for sports was infectious; he passionately cheered for Indiana University, the Pacers, the Colts, the Cincinnati Reds, and Eastbrook High School-his spirit of enthusiasm inspiring all who knew him. He even made history as Indiana's first State Fair Champion in the Tractor Pull, having spent the morning farming before claiming his title.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Beulah; children, Jim (Jodie) Trout, Marion, Terri Trout-Rogers, Upland, Jon (Carla) Trout, Marion, Peggy Trout-King, Littleton, Colorado, and Danny Trout, Matthews; step-son, Ron (Kathy) Adams, Upland, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Mildred; daughter, SuAnn Tarlton; son, Dean Trout; daughter-in-law, Judy Trout; and sisters, Audra Black and Janet Rumple.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Services will be held at Center Chapel Church on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, starting with a Masonic Service at 1:40 p.m., followed by military honors, and then a funeral service, with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the Masonic service. Following the services, Darrell will be laid to rest at the Van Buren Cemetery.
