Zimri L. Zirkle, 88, passed away on April 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Zimri was born on September 4, 1937, to Von and Blanche (Draper) Zirkle. He never
met a stranger and never passed up a chance to give you a hard time, but in the most
loving way. He served in Korea as military police in the United States Army, and upon
returning home, devoted himself to a career in trucking. He spent many years working
for Jet Express, doing work he was proud of and passionate about. Among his greatest
accomplishments was having traveled to all 48 continental states in his semi.
On September 30, 1960, he married the love of his life, Patricia (Wise) Zirkle, and
together they shared 65 wonderful years, with three daughters, eight grandchildren, and
three great-grandchildren.
Zimri had a passion for helping others, collecting pieces for his Christmas village,
watching westerns, woodworking, gardening, and creating photo albums. Over the last
few years, he also gave his time to the Second Harvest Food Bank. That was simply the
kind of man he was - generous to the core, with a warm smile and a quick wit to
match.
Zimri had a sense of humor that could lighten any room, an ornery streak that kept
everyone on their toes, and a heart that always had room for one more.
He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Bratton, Michelle (Chuck) Michel, and
Pamela (Chuck) Gulish; eight grandchildren, Jonathan Bratton, Rebecca Bratton,
Stephanie Bratton, Michael Bratton, Katherine Egler, Zachary Egler, Brandon Gulish,
and Jessi Gulish; and three great-grandchildren, Conor Bratton, Finley Hughes, and
Elias Hart.
Zimri was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia (Wise) Zirkle; his parents; and
his brothers, Ulric and Eldo Zirkle.
Arrangements for Zimri have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt
Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue,
Marion, Indiana 46953. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m.
to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Thrailkill
Cemetery in Converse, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Second Harvest Food
Bank, 6621 Old State Road 3, Muncie, Indiana 47303.
