Dorothy Stephenson, age 85, of Fairmount, IN, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at Wesleyan Health Care Center in Marion, IN. were she had been a resident for the last 2 years.
She was the daughter of the late John S. Welcher and Margaret (Wimmer) Welcher. She was born in Elwood, Indiana on July 1, 1925. She graduated from Wendel Wilkie High School in 1942 and went to work at Owens Illinios were she retired after 36 years.
She married John D. Stephenson on Janaury 2, 1961. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2003.
Dorothy volunteered many hours at the Fairmount Museum. She loved sharing stories of Fairmount and James Dean with people who visited and showing them around town. She was also a member of the Fairmount Christian Church. Dorothy did beautiful hand work, knitting, crocheting, making doilies and jewerly as well as being a wonderful cook. She loved going to Fairmount Pizza King for hot fudge sundaes.

She was preceded in death by a brother John Welcher, Jr.

Arrangements are being handled by Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, IN Funeral service will be at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, February 8, 2011, Rev. Jack St. John officiating. Friends may call the funeral home from 10 AM until service time on Tuesday. Interment will be at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, IN
