Upland: On Saturday February 5, 2011, M. Genevieve Jeffrey, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at 7:50pm in Marion. She joins her beloved husband, Willis Jeffrey in Heaven. She and Willis were married on September 1, 1935. She was born in Monroe Township, the daughter of the late Maynard and Sara Jane (Thurman) Olynger. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1931 and attended both Ball State and Taylor Universities. Returning home she worked at Owens-Illinois for several years. She then married the love of her life Willis. They partnered in both life and in business. They owned and operated Jeffrey's Market at the corner of Nebraska and 6th streets in Marion from 1939-1965. Later in Life, she always enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events and dance performances. Her passion for the outdoors was also a well-known fact. She would often share the harvest of her gardens with others. Her legacy of strength and courage will be remembered by all. Genevieve's enthusiasm for life and her devotion as the family matriarch will be profoundly missed. Left to cherish her memory include, a daughter Nancy J. Harris, Marion; three grandchildren, Jodi Harris (Lynne Howarth), Colorado; Julie (Mark) Fauser, Marion; and Jeffrey (Gigi) Harris, Marion; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Olynger, Gas City and seven great grandchildren Hilary, Nick, Luke, Kiki, Mary, Jack and Joseph. In addition to her husband and parents, Genevieve was preceded in death by brothers Fred and Albert Olynger. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made on her behalf to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.jdrf.com) and/or to the cure for Autism at (www.autismspeaks.org).
