Obituary
Marion: Bertha K. Loy, 96, passed away early Thursday morning at University Nursing Center, Upland. She was born in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Thistle) Greene, and graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1932. She married Burton Loy on December 16, 1939. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1975. In the 1950's she enjoyed being the manager at the Hi-Way Drive-In Theater concession stand. Mrs. Loy and her husband moved to Lacon, Il in 1965 where they managed the Loy Store until 1975 when she returned to Marion. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and enjoyed being a member of the Cambridge Square Band. She is survived by a son, R. Philip (Janet); a daughter, Phyllis Joan Simpkins; three grandchildren, Gregory (Juanita) Simpkins, Jeffery Simpkins, and Lisa (Michael) Belcher; two great grandchildren, Bradley and Lauren; step great grandsons, Jay Garrison, Jeremy (Katie) Garrison; step great great grandchildren, Jay Ryan, Noah, Lilly, and Shelly. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, and a son-in-law, Robert Simpkins. Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Music Department, 1100 W. Jeffras Avenue, Marion Indiana, 46952. Funeral Service: 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 15, 2011, Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1100 W. Jeffras Avenue, Marion, Indiana Visitation: 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday, February 14, 2011, Jones-Smith Funeral Home, 259 N. Main St., Upland, Indiana and an hour prior to the service at the church.
