Obituary

Albert J. "Jay" Sollars, 79, of Marion, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 5, 2020, at his home surrounded by his adoring family. Jay, a loving husband to his wife, and father to his three daughters passed away due to complications related to a stroke and natural causes.

Jay was born on January 27, 1941, to Donald "Don" and Juanita Belle Sollars. He was one of four brothers, Don (Shirley) Sollars, Larry (Cathy) Sollars, and Terry (Paula) Sollars. Jay had many nieces and nephews. He grew up surrounded by the love of his parents, siblings, cousins, and friends. In 1959, he graduated from Marion High School and then later attended college at Moody Bible Institute, Indiana Wesleyan University, and DePaul University. Jay spent his early career working as the Vice President for Associates Business Corp. Later focusing on his career in the work of God through ministry. On March 4, 1962, Jay wed the love of his life, Rebecca "Beckie" (Wootton) Sollars. To this union, they were blessed with 3 children, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandsons. Stephanie (Mike) their oldest daughter, followed by Nikki, and Annette (Phil). Stephanie's son Brandon was the first grandson to join the family, followed by Nikki's daughter, Brittani, and then her son Hunter. Then he welcomed his two great-grandsons, Omni Rook and Emmet Jay. Jay adored his family and was a true family man until the very end. He spent his time raising his three daughters, enjoying fishing, hunting, and horsing around with his girls. He always made sure to focus his time on enjoying his grandchildren as they were growing up. There was no-one Jay enjoyed spending his time with more than his beloved wife Beckie, of 58 years, raising their daughters, traveling the country, and making the best life for the two of them and their children. Jay was a soft-spoken, beyond explanation intelligent, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His passing, though inevitable left a devastating, world-shattering, unbearable, catastrophic hole in the hearts of all that love him.

We assume that all who knew him are anxiously awaiting to find out the million-dollar question, we can confirm that Jay's hair stayed full, luscious, and sparkling gray until the very last moment. As you read through this obituary, we hope that you cracked a smile, just as Jay would have, and that you enjoyed hearing his laugh in your head.

Arrangements for Jay have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Avenue, Marion. Indiana 46953. Following Jay and his family's wishes, there will not be any services held at this time, he will be placed to rest at Gardens of Memory, in Marion.
