Obituary

Marilyn D. Bragg, 90, died Thursday morning, January 7, 2021 at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, Indiana, of Covid-19. She was born on a family farm near Fairmount on December 29, 1930, the daughter of the late Robert Lees and Dorothy (McCoy) Lees. She married John F. Bragg on August 6, 1950 in Upland, Indiana.
Before moving to Muncie about seven years ago, Marilyn lived most of her life in Upland. She attended school in Fairmount, Fowlerton and Upland and graduated from Jefferson Township High School. Marilyn enjoyed playing the drums in the community and school band and she loved to ice skate. Before becoming a stay-at-home mother and in-home babysitter, she worked at the Owens-Illinois Glass factory. Spending winters in Florida allowed Marilyn to visit with the families of her brother and sister whom she cherished.
Marilyn loved her family fiercely and was the keeper of family traditions from Christmas celebrations with favorite foods to backyard whiffle ball games. She nurtured and nourished children and adults with utmost efficiency and care while putting three meals on the table daily. As the chief family cheerleader, Marilyn was known to burn many of those calories by actively watching athletic events of her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include five children: Susan (Bruce) Ballinger of Bluffton; Nancy Bragg of Noblesville; Bob (Kristin) Bragg of Noblesville; Janna (Sam) Warren of Dayton, Ohio; and Mike (Angie) Bragg of Muncie; a brother: Edward Lees of New Port Richey, Florida; a sister: Shirley (Dick) McCarty of Port Richey, Florida; ten grandchildren: Lindsay (Nate) Gibson; Ben Ballinger; Kelsay (Willie) Little; Tessa Bragg; Jacob Bragg; Nicholas Bragg; Lily Warren; Anna Bragg; Clay Bragg and Lucas Bragg; and four great grandchildren: Noah Cordero; Amaelia Cordero; Xavier Little; and Alayna Little.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years: John F. Bragg; and a sister-in-law: Debbie Lees.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home in Upland. Services for Marilyn will be private. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery, Upland.
Memorial contributions may be made to the John F. Bragg '52 Scholarship Fund at Taylor University.
