I hated hearing about the passing of Mr.Lawvere. I had him for 8th grade math at McCullough and at first he terrified me. I struggled with math and he absolutely hated to let me go to my Resource room teacher for help or at least that is how I saw it. About 7 years ago I ran into him since he is a fellow Democrat and I was in the Women's Dam club at the time and I worked up the nerve to tell him who I was and how nervous he made me feel. He took a few minutes before answering. He told me that he hated when students struggled and he only wanted to be the one to help. He took his job seriously. Then he told some.funny stories and I was in shock at first because I had never heard him laugh let alone seen him smile. The way he spoke about teaching you could see the passion. My condolences to his family and friends.

So sorry for your loss.
I remember him coming in to pick up his granddaughters from kindergarten. I was in over my head as a substitute with the kindergarten class. He had arrived early and helped me with the class. I was so grateful for the extra hand. My mother a first grade teacher at Matthews talked about him and Gabi when she had their boys in her class.
Sorry for your loss!
